Integrative Hyperbaric Medicine and Health Optimization is a specialized division of Hyperbaric Medical Solutions (HMS)—an independent, hyperbaric oxygen therapy provider—that aims to educate people about the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) via telemedicine consulting, advocacy and education practices worldwide.
HBOT is a natural therapy approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat a wide range of disorders and disease. Some include decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, crush injury, failed skin grafts and flaps, diabetic lower extremity wounds, radiation tissue damage and thermal burns, among others. Research also suggests HBOT positively affects patients with other conditions, including anoxic and traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain, ulcerative colitis, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, musculoskeletal injury, stroke, and many others. HBOT can be used as sole treatment or in conjunction with other treatments to help optimize a patient’s recovery process.
Dr. Scott Sherr is the director of Integrative Hyperbaric Medicine and Heath Optimization at Hyperbaric Medical Solutions. In this role, he facilitates protocol development, patient engagement, and outreach efforts.
Dr. Scott is also an independent provider of Integrative HBOT who runs a worldwide education, consulting, and advocacy telemedicine practice. He is of the few HBOT medical professionals in the country who develops personalized treatment plans for patients, which include:
While studies support the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy when used to help treat various medical conditions, individual results may vary. There are no guarantees of outcome. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy may not be appropriate for every individual; it may not be applicable to your condition. Always ask your doctor about all treatment options, as well as their risks and benefits. Only your doctor can determine whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy is appropriate for your situation.
