Medical Director

Alan A Katz, M.D. has been a leader in the fields of both Hyperbaric Medicine and Emergency Medicine for over 30 years. He is double board-certified in both Hyperbaric and Emergency Medicine. His past leadership roles have ranged from regional director with a national Emergency Medicine contract management group, to academic faculty, director, and multiple chairman positions with hospital-employed and small independent emergency physician groups. As a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Katz has also previously served as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Katz is Medical Director for Hyperbaric Medical Solutions (HMS), overseeing clinical operations, as well as education and research initiatives for all HMS locations. Dr. Katz also serves as the President for the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) - Northeast Chapter where he is leading important conversations within the medical community, as well as the general population, about the uses and benefits of HBOT. His stated goal is to educate all, including policymakers, insurers, and other medical leaders about the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen, the needs and methods for further research, and the increased opportunities for the expanded use of HBOT.

A particular clinical interest of Dr. Katz is to further explore the effects of Hyperbaric Medicine (HBOT) in the treatment of traumatic brain injury, and anti-aging. Additionally, he incorporates the use of regenerative medicine procedures and techniques such as PRP therapy (platelet rich plasma). PRP is a non-surgical treatment using a patient’s own blood to stimulate the healing of damaged tissue, repairs musculoskeletal injuries, enhances skin/aesthetics/hair and enhances sexual function.
