What does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy feel like?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a relaxing and calming experience for most patients. As the chamber pressurizes, you may feel a gentle fullness in your ears—similar to taking off or landing on an airplane.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a relaxing and calming experience for most patients. As the chamber pressurizes, you may feel a gentle fullness in your ears—similar to taking off or landing on an airplane—which lasts just a few minutes and is closely monitored by an HMS technician. Once at full pressure, patients simply rest and breathe normally, often describing the session as peaceful and rejuvenating. As the pressure gradually decreases at the end, a light ear “pop” is normal and signals the session is complete.
What do I do inside the hyperbaric chamber?
Many patients sleep, watch TV, or a movie. For your enjoyment, each hyperbaric chamber at HMS is paired with its own TV with access to many streaming apps. Patients are welcomed to watch their favorite TV programs, movies, or listen to a podcast, or music. Our Hyperbaric Technicians help patients with their entertainment options throughout treatment.
